Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located? Are you on the the water?Escape to the tranquility of Seascape Motel and Cottages, located just three miles from downtown Belfast and Searsport. Our prime location on US Route 1 offers stunning views of Penobscot Bay and easy access to public water access just a short walk away. Our charming cottages boast serene water views and peaceful surroundings, perfect for those seeking a nostalgic coastal escape. While Route 1 can be busy, we offer accommodations set back from the road for those who prefer a quieter stay.
How is your facility laid out?The motel and cottages are arranged in a semi-circle facing the pool area. There is approximately 40 to 60 feet between each building. The Seascape is set on 4.5 acres of southerly sloping land. Behind the cottages, we have fire pits and a little trail that goes down to a trickling creek. On the western edge of our property is the trailhead for Fristad Trails, a sanctuary of 100 acres of well-marked walking trails, open to the public (and dogs).
Do you have a pool or spa?Dive into happiness with our sparkling clean outdoor heated pool and hot tub! Enjoy a comfortable water temperature and the clear waters of a state-of-the-art filtration system. Our pool area features a 20-foot-wide shallow end and a 39-foot-long lap area for the serious swimmer. Relax your body with the 6 soothing jets in the poolside spa after a busy day exploring the Maine coast. Our pool hours are from 7:30 am to 9 pm in the summer and 9 am to 7 pm in the fall, open seasonally from early June through mid-September. You won't find another establishment along the midcoast with the same combination of amenities! However, please note that we reserve the right to close the pool and spa due to weather or environmental conditions at any time.
Do you have hair dryers, irons, or coffee makers?Yes! We have hair dryers, irons, ironing boards, refrigerators and coffee makers in each room and cottage. Also, each motel room and cottage is supplied with local coffee from Green Tree in Lincolnville, teas, sugars, creamers, and Seascape ceramic mugs. Love the mugs? Take one and we'll add that to your bill.

Do you have an ice machine? There is an ice machine with complimentary ice outside our office. Ice buckets are provided in each guest room and cottage.
What do the cottage kitchens have in them? All of the kitchens are supplied with pots, pans, dishes and glassware, as well as cooking and eating utensils. You will also find salt and pepper, cooking oil, coffee filters, paper towels, dish washing liquid, and dish towels. Each kitchen is equipped with a four-burner stove and oven, microwave, full size sink, coffee maker, and toaster. The studio cottages have an under-the-counter refrigerator. The one and two bedroom cottages have a full size refrigerator with freezer.
Do you provide daily housekeeping service?Daily in-room housekeeping service is not provided. For reservation longer than three days, we will schedule a mid-stay refresh to clean up and restock any items you need. Fresh towels, amenities and trash removal will be available on request. Please leave items outside on your porch and we will replenish your supplies.
What is your pet policy? I just have a little pet, and she won't hurt a thing, I promise! No pets are allowed at Seascape with the exception of service animals, including the necessary documentation of the service animal's dedicated purpose. We are happy to recommend several other accommodations in the area who do accept pets. We have taken great care to renovate the rooms and the decor and furnishings simply won't hold up to furry friends, no matter how sweet they are.
Is smoking allowed? Our whole facility is non-smoking. Smoking is not permitted in the motel rooms, cottages, on the outdoor decks, guest registration or pool areas. There is a small, uncovered, dedicated smoking area near the woods, away from all guest areas. We do not have accommodations for smoking in inclement weather.
Can you print Acadia passes? We are a paperless operation in terms of billing, guest sign-in and registration. However, we can print your Acadia park passes and parking permits, as well as other travel documents you may need.
Is there wifi?We offer free wifi in all of our rooms and throughout the property. Our facility was constructed long before wireless internet was a consideration, so we have added boosters to rooms where wifi signal may not be as strong as others.
Are we allowed to have cookouts? Do you provide grills?Outside each cottage is a picnic table and charcoal grill. You are welcome to barbecue anytime.
Where is the nearest lighthouse?Right here! We have our own little lighthouse. It was built in 1965 by Chester S. Russell, the first proprietor of the Seascape. Constructed of concrete, the lighthouse stands ten feet tall and is illuminated. It is located at the entrance to the Seascape and is one of the most photographed lighthouses in Belfast! There are several other full scale, operating lighthouses in our area. They are easily accessible by car. Pemaquid, Rockland Breakwater, and Fort Point are just a few of the lights well worth visiting.

Where is there a nice place to take a walk or have a picnic?Look no further than Moose Point State Park, less than 1 mile away from Seascape Motel and Cottages. This scenic park is a popular spot for picnics, barbecues, and playtime in its open fields and playground area. Take a leisurely stroll on the easy 1/2 mile walking trail, with stunning views of Penobscot Bay and inviting benches to relax and savor our rocky coastline. For even more beach fun, head down the road to Mosman Park in downtown Searsport. This hidden gem boasts a sandy beach and plenty of room to explore, especially at low tide. You will love creating memories at these beautiful outdoor spaces.
Where can I buy groceries nearby? There are two large grocery stores just 3 miles from the Seascape. Tozier's Market in Searsport is a small-town grocery store well-stocked with the basics. Hannaford in Belfast is a much larger grocery store than you would expect for a city of this size, with a wide variety of organic, dairy-free, and gluten-free items. The Belfast Co-Op is also terrific for specialty items including high-quality local meat and produce. There are also farmers' markets on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the year. Ask us for details! Is there a laundromat nearby? There is a laundromat in downtown Belfast, 3 miles south, and one in Searsport, 5 miles north. We do not offer laundry service onsite.

Is there a restaurant nearby?Maine's coastal towns are known for their diverse and delicious dining options, and Belfast is no exception. From classic Maine seafood to international cuisine, there's something for everyone. You can find several restaurants just three miles away in downtown Belfast, as well as great takeaway Thai just a mile from Seascape. Some of our favorite restaurants in Belfast include Satori, Young's Lobster Pound, and Fon's Kitchen. And with many more dining choices in the area, you're sure to find something to satisfy your cravings along the Maine coast. If you venture a little further to Searsport, you'll discover a burgeoning dining scene with a taco/cocktail lounge, intimate tavern, and a bakery perfect for breakfast. Whatever your tastes, we're sure to have a recommendation for you. Keep in mind that many restaurants in the area stop serving by 9 pm on weekends, and earlier on weekdays, so plan accordingly. Most restaurants are also closed at least one day a week, typically Monday or Tuesday.
